Mike Ryan schools highway cleaners on his final time

Last evening we did our first highway cleanup for 2013, with oddly enough 13 highway cleaners present.

The work was done quickly, leaving more time for fun and fellowship at the Roberts Creek Legion, where they

did us proud with their excellent food service.

See the smiling Mike Ryan dealing with clean up students below. They respond quickly to his teaching.

We can only hope that Rotary in Oliver is ready to receive his smiles, jokes and teachings.

WHAT IS ROTARY?
Rotary is a worldwide movement of more than 1.24 million business, professional, and community leaders who have volunteered their time, money, resources, experience and expertise to help others in making the world a better place to live. Rotary supports great causes such as local community organizations and projects to world wide missions such as the eradication of Polio. To date Rotary has helped immunize over 2 Billion children and helped almost wipe Polio out of existence. Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self" is taken very seriously among our members. We meet weekly and develop programs locally, nationally and internationally while having great fun and fellowship.

Club Training Policy
The Rotary Club of Sechelt recently adopted a training policy to encourage its members to take advantage of Rotary and other training opportunities. Examples of up coming training include the Food Safe Course, the Club Assembly on May in Sechelt and Rotary Leadership Institute course. Food Safe Training
Eleven Rotarians attended the Food Safe Training Workshop at the Driftwood Inn from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday May 4. The group learned a lot about safe food preparation and serving that will add to the quality of the service provided at Rotary barbecues this summer and beyond. Moreover, it was a good fellowship event, even if Tom took off to buy plants over the lunch break.
